New Year, New Challenge

Posted by admin | Training | Sunday 2 January 2011 11:43 pm
At 12:01am on New Years I signed up for the Camp Pendelton Mud Run after my friend and 3 day team mate Cindy talked me into registering for the run in June. Last year she was saying how fun the Mud Run is and how we needed to sign up to do the run in 2011. So flash forward to New Years eve and she brings up the run again. She says we need to do the Mud Run at Camp Pendelton and that we need to sign up at Midnight because it fills up fast. Only 6000 participants are able to register, since the event sells out so fast the event is held on 3 different days giving participants a better chance of getting registered.
So both Cindy and I signed up along with our husbands for the Sunday, June 5the Mud Run. So now the challegne is training for the event. The Mud Run is a 10k obstacle course through the mud, held at Camp Pendelton. The course has hills, tire obstacles, river crossings, two 5-foot walls with mud on both sides, tunnel crawl, slippery hill climb, and the final 30-foot mud pit. This should be interesting, I the longest run I have done is a 5k and my husband has never ran before.

Let the training begin. This should be dirty and fun. Well at least dirty.

Has anyone trained for something like this before?  If so share you thoughts on training and preparing for the event.

8 Mile Training Walk

Posted by admin | Training | Sunday 15 August 2010 11:09 am

With only seven weeks until the San Francisco Susan G Komen 3 Day For The Cure and eleven weeks until San Diego my training is getting going but a little behind in distance.

Every year it is hard to do long distance training in the summer due to head. This year has been much cooler but it has been harder to find the time. Even though we only did 8 miles today I am feeling good and no there won’t be a problem doing 60 in October.

With four years of training under my belt I feel confident tha I won’t ha ve a problem once again this year. But I’ll let you now in October after I have finished my first 60 mile walk.

Until then I will continue putting in as many miles a week as I can.

Race For The Cure

Another Race, I just can’t stop I Keep Going. As many of you know I just can’t stop when it come to Breast Cancer Awareness and fundraising. I am walking in The Susan G Komen 3 Day For The Cure in San Francisco in October, the Relay For Life of Lake Elsinore in October and the Race For The Cure in Temecula also in October then one more walk the Susan G Komen For The 3 Day in San Diego which will be in November. With all of that I have signed up for one more Race the Race For The Cure in Orange County. I have signed up to run the 5k with my fellow survivor sister Cindy Golden.

Since I haven’t run a 5k in over a year I have 8 weeks to get trained to run this 5k. Before having breast cancer I never ran a 5k, my first 5k was the Race For The Cure in Temecula when I was a 3 year survivor. I am have ran a couple of races a year, but know it has been over a year since I ran a 5k so I figure it is about time to do it again. So here I go or should I say I keep going, raising awareness and raising fund for the fight against cancer. If you would like to donate to Susan G Komen or the American Cancer Society please click on a link on the right side a make a tax deductible donation and join me in the fight against cancer. It’s Personal!!!!
