A federal task force announced that they are changing the guidelines regarding women 40 -49 years of age and mammogram screening. The tasks force suggests the for women aged 40-49 years it is an individuals decision. Yet the panel states that "Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States. Widespread use of screening, along with treatment advances in recent years, have been credited with significant reductions in breast cancer mortality." If this is the case than why not continue to screen women for this deadly disease.

I know myself, diagnosed at age 35, my friends diagnosed at age 40, 45, 49 and the latest at 39 all are thankful for mammogram in helping find our cancers. Especially since young women’s cancers are generally more aggressive and result in lower survival rates.
